Dear Blog,
Today I discovered that riding down
King street just at the end of peak hour
wasn't so scary... riding down city road however is FUCKING TERRIFYING!!!!
So I tried to avoid King street for as much as I could, I went this funny little back way through
lots of alleys and lanes and my goodness
Newtown's back streets are adorable! I loved riding past all the houses and nooks and crannies! But alas I
couldnt make the full length of K
ing street so I had to turn onto it for a brief while. Once on The King, I realised that most of the time there are cars parked in one lane- which gives me a nice decent sized half a lane in which I can fit... and cars cannot... thus King street = success
however King street does turn into City road further towards the city.... somehow.... within the
passing over the thresh hold of king to city road, the large scary vehicles
multiplied.... and got closer.... and closer, and my lovely little half lane... I
don't know where it went! but there were cars parked here and there- moving cars
speeding past and a truck who I swear was cm away from my handle bars!....*shudder* I did not dare ride on
cleveland street after City road... there was no lovely little half a lane and no cars parked on its side...and I was scared....
Thankfully once I got to Chippendale to visit the lovely Isobel I was able to steal her
internets and
discover the street "
parallel" to kings street which will get me from her pace strait to
enmore road!
weee! strait through the heart of
Redfern at 9pm at night! It was nice actually, I liked my amble home through the streets and past the pubs and strange shops. I think I shall do this again. Only had one incident with a curb, but
thats because it started 1/4 onto the road... I assume to keep nasty car drivers from hitting bike-
icle-
ists like myself (as it segregated a bike lane from normal traffic) however it was unexpected on my part, and I had to stop
abruptly and pretend that I was
looking at a shop adjacent.
I have also discovered that riding in peak hour along
Enmore road is quite exciting! you pass all the
vehicles stuck in
traffic, and then
further on hurtle down a hill and break neck speed with the cars
whizzing besides you!
hehehe....
hmmm... not sure if this is a good or bad sign...
Ps- I will have to locate a scanner for my own personal deployment as I have finished
Fishykins and would like to show you dear blog. he is
ok... I must endeavor to draw more. I also must come up with a theme/idea for my as yet unplanned up and coming exhibition so I can start making art.
till next installment
